Sensis Prototype Aids In Ramp Management

Jim Ott reports in the July 19th Aviation Daily on Sensis’ contract with NYSERDA to develop a Managed Gate Operations decision support tool. The article details the potential benefits to the airport and airline gate operator in terms of providing an automated, optimal sequence of gate movements. Matt Blake, director of advanced development for Sensis Air Traffic Systems notes that ramp controllers perform at a high level, but “as you get 30 aircraft moving in and out of the ramp areas, it’s hard for the individual to develop an optimum sequence.”
