SENSIS TO DELIVER FUSION PROCESSOR FOR TIS-B RESEARCH AT FREDERICK MUNICIPAL AIRPORT, MD

DEWITT, NY - February, 24, 2000 - Sensis Corporation has been awarded a contract from the Federal Aviation Administration to deliver a Multi-Sensor Tracker fusion processor to integrate target data from two terminal radars for Traffic Information Service-Broadcast (TIS-B) Research by the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA). TIS-B utilizes ground based radar to determine an aircraft's position and broadcasts this information to other suitably equipped aircraft. Data from ASR-9 radars at Washington Dulles International Airport and Ronald Reagan National Airport will be received via a Sensis System Interface Unit (SIU). The SIU is a highly modular data format and protocol converter that supports a variety of protocols, electrical standards and message formats. The Multi-Sensor Tracker will fuse the data from the radar sources to create a unified, accurate "best source" surveillance picture. The tracker will also integrate positional information transmitted from ADS-B equipped aircraft with the radar data which will demonstrate surveillance coverage and accuracy during the transition to universal ADS-B equipage. Installation is scheduled for June '00.
